VRL Logistics Profitability Slips in Q1FY17

VRL LogisticsOn 1st August 2016, VRL Logistics has declared its financial results for the quarter ended 30th June 2016. The company’s revenue saw a surge of 2.35 percent to reach Rs 459 crore in Q1 FY17 as compared to corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The EBITDA of the Company too has risen by 19.59 percent and reached Rs 69 crore in the first quarter of FY16 on a Y-o-Y basis.
VRL Logistics’ margin has contracted by 412 basis points to 15.12 percent for the quarter ended 30th June 2016 as compared to same period in previous fiscal. However, the PAT has slipped by 27.29 percent to Rs 26 crore in Q1 FY17 on a Y-o-Y basis. Its PAT margin has contracted by 234 basis points to 5.77 percent in Q1 FY17 as compared to same period in previous year.
On the segmental revenue front, the Company has earned 77.2 percent from goods transport; 19.88 percent from bus transport; 1.5 percent from sale of power; 0.73 percent from air charter; and remaining 0.69 percent from others during Q1 FY17.
VRL Logistics is engaged in the business of providing goods as well as passenger transportation services. The company's segments include goods transport, bus operations, and sale of power as well as air chartering service. It operates through its owned fleet of nearly 375 buses. Its wind farm consists of around 34 wind turbine generators.
VRL logistics share price saw a gradual drop since 28th July 2016 due to profit booking. The share price closed at Rs 312.40, down by 4.26 per cent after today’s trading session. A total of 13,52,047 shares of the company has exchanged hands on the NSE counter today. The 52 week high and the 52 week low of the share are Rs 479.00 28th August 2015 and Rs 251.80 on 25th May 2016 respectively.
